PBCCS Receives Grant
The Palm Bay Community Charter School Patriot Campus Technology Students Association (TSA) was recently announced as a recipient of a $4000 grant from the IEEE Foundation. The IEEE Foundation cultivates resources and relationship to advance IEEE's core purpose of fostering technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity. The grant will be used to support student activities such as building robots, computer skills development, and other technology based projects through the 2010 academic year.
Manny Visits our VPK Program
Manny, the Manatee's mascot (The Manatees are our local baseball team.) visited our volunteer pre-K program in January, 2008.
Patriot Teacher Training
Palm Bay Community Charter School - Patriot Campus, has an aggressive teacher development plan. Teachers report for two weeks of training and planning before students report for school. The development opportunities continue throughout the school year to prepare teachers to be the best possible at meeting the needs of students.
KSC Rocket Garden
Palm Bay Community Charter School - Patriot Campus, has the distinct honor of partnering with Space Florida. Patriot middle school students are invited to participate in a three day Space Academy at Kennedy Space Center. Thirty students completed Space Academy in September 2007 with one of the most successful weather balloon launches in their program history. Space Florida typically works with undergraduate students from around the United States and foreign countries. Patriot middle school students stand out among the distinguished students who have participated in this program.
Principal in Zero Gravity
Zero G Corporation has taken notice of Patriot Campus and the goal of engaging students in Science and Technology. Zero G invited the principal to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience of being in a microgravity environment on one of their 727 aircrafts. The flight originated at the shuttle landing facility at Kennedy Space Center. A flight suit, photographs, and a video are on display at the school and teachers use the materials as classroom tools.
